BIOGRAPHY
Acclaimed for her beautiful and rare timbre, Polish Coloratura Soprano Marika Szczepek is a young singer establishing an auspicious career.
Ms. Szczepek was singing since the earliest of her days, always volunteering to sing at school, church, and community events. As a child, she excelled in all her music, art, and theater classes. Her teachers remember her as a very artistic and meticulous individual. Marika recalls the exact moment when she first heard Mozart's famous Queen of the Night aria "Der Hölle Rache" which inspired to pursue a career in Opera. Consequently, at age 13, she began Voice and Piano lessons. As a child, Marika was a finalist in The USA World Showcase and performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
This past September 2016, Ms. Szczepek was heard during the unveiling of the "Undeterred Soldiers" monument by Polish President Andrzej Duda in Doylestown, PA.
In October 2015, Marika joined the Polish renowned composer Piotr Rubik in his U.S.A. tour "Wiara, Nadzieja, Miłośc" (Faith, Hope, Love). She performed the soprano solos in Jedenaste with Michał Bogdanowicz, and Santo along side Marta Mosczynska, Ewa Pruś, Agnieszka Przekupień, Grzegorz Wilk, Michał Gasz, Michał Bogdanowicz and Jakub Wieczorek.
Ms. Szczepek was in multiple recitals and scenes at the Manhattan School of Music. Under the direction of Catherine Malfitano, she performed excerpts as "Servilia" from Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, "Juliette" from Romeo et Juliette by Charles Gounod, and "Nina" from Chérubin by Jules Massenet. Marika has sung in William Walton's Henry the Fifth alongside Christopher Plummer and the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Alan Gilbert at the Lincoln Center, as well as in New York City Opera's production of Moses in Egypt at City Center. She has performed in the International Opera Theatre's production of Brundibar. Ms. Szczepek was a soloist in Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms at the Kimmel Center with the Philadelphia All City Choir and Orchestra.
